Built in 1862 by the famous architect
Henri-Maurice Perrault (the same architect still remembered today for his classical
works such as the old Courthouse, City Hall, Sacre Coeur chapel of the Notre-Dame Church in Montreal), this antique architectural treasure located in the heart
of Old Montreal is a three storey high building of celebration where the refinement
of the cuisine brings to mind the meals prepared by the Queux (the King's chef)
at the French court.
Managed by the Violette's family
and supervised by the experienced Head Chef Mr. Jean-Paul Aubry, Chez Queux,
opened in 1973, has long been renowned for its historical ambience and fine
classic French cuisine. Nevertheless, even Dionysus will not be disappointed
by its collection of vintage as their wine list is honourably quoted by The
Wine Spectator Magazine as "One of the most outstanding restaurant wine
lists in the world". Summing up all the above important factors consequently,
dining in Chez Queux will definitely be an event worth experiencing and remembering.
Saisi de saumon is a salmon dish that may be served as an appetizer or as a main course. The cooking style
is very similar to the Japanese Beef sashimi which a marinated fillet of salmon
is slightly seared on the outside. The result is different and good.
If you want to try something extraordinary,
be sure to try the Medaillon de Chevreuil Grille. It is a grilled deer medallion
with a four spices sauce and served with dried pear and whisky. The meat of deer
is unexpectedly juicy and tender and is very similar to beef. This traditional
dish is made from the best ingredients and classic recipe.
Do not forget to try their variety
of desserts. Cheesecake with raspberries is a sensible choice. This classic
provides you a enjoyable richness of cheese balanced with a delicious raspberry
sauce. The result is excellent and memorable.
